Craig Carothers with Randy Sharp this Sat Mar 10th at 7:30

Here we go again; albeit a little late out the gate for the notice. Sorry 'bout that…

This time however, Craig's playing here with his buddy Randy Sharp, who has a pocket full of #1 songs to his credit. You'll be enjoying a song he's playing you suppose to be a cover, until he tells you after it's over that he wrote it.

The best part is, he and Craig together are a rare treat indeed—my personal favorite pairing.

It doesn't happen very often, so don't miss this one!

blutonic at the sapphire hotel

Hey folks, my crazy jazz trio Blutonic is playing this Sunday, February 18th at 8:PM at the Sapphire Hotel , 5008 SE Hawthorne Blvd. (503) 232-5333.

We'll have singer Paul Creighton on hand from the R&B/funk group Intervision, who'll lend us his soulful tenor for the second set.

Should be a good one. (I always say that though...)
Hope you can make it!

senduit simple

Make some space in your bookmark bars Ladies and Germs, this is awesome. If you've got a big file to send to someone, and you think FTP stands for "Fuck tha Police," then senduit is for you.

Its disgustingly simple interface allows you to upload any file up to 100MB and store it for up to 7 days. Then it generates a unique URL that you email to your recipient, letting them download the file from their browser. I did it with my 7MB portfolio, and it worked like a dream.

How something so useful can also be free is a mystery to me.

Simple. Brilliant.

Lady Sings the Blutonic..

Sorry about that, but I’m pretty sure there's a pun in there somewhere...

In any case, Blutonic, the trio I play in will be at Sheila Baraga’s hip new space Maiden in the Mist this coming Sunday, January 28th for a brunch set from Noon till 2PM.

Ms. Baraga, of Sapphire Hotel fame up on Hawthorne Blvd, threw open the galley at the Maiden just last month down on the corner of SE 6th and Morrison. As always, good food and an interesting constituency will be on hand.

This will be a first attempt at live music there in the new space, so come on out and be a part of history...

Cheers!

Steely Dan on The Making of “Peg”

Praise be to our Father and God in the highest for my family and friends, my health …and for YouTube.

I mean, come on—Rick Marotta and Chuck Rainey talking about laying down their parts for Peg..?!?
Watch for the part where Donald Fagen and Walter Becker diss the guitar solos that didn’t make it on to the final track.

(Big ups to Paul Creighton for the link.)
